Fixing linux boot delay on Asus ROG G751JT

Posted in astuce with tags ASUS ROG -

Last year, I bought a laptop Asus ROG G751TJss. The laptop has a SSD disk but the boot was abnormally long. systemd-analyze showed that the full boot took more than thirty seconds

Startup finished in 7.342s (firmware) + 2.246s (loader) + 1.581s (kernel) + 21.208s (initrd) + 2.089s (userspace) = 34.467s

but systemd-analyze blame looked normal. A look at dmesg led me to this page where I found a solution.

I edited /etc/default/grub to add usbhid.quirks=0x0b05:0x17fd:0x0004 in GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. Last thing needed was to regenerate the grub configration file with grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg

Here is the result

# systemd-analyze
Startup finished in 5.853s (firmware) + 3.744s (loader) + 2.343s (kernel) + 1.741s (initrd) + 1.954s (userspace) = 15.637s
